VorTIC3 Research Group was founded in 2011 by several investigators of Rey Juan Carlos University, who already had a long expertise in research, particularly in the fields of database management and software engineering.
Nowadays, VorTIC3 is stands out as the Research Group on Data & Software Engineering in Rey Juan Carlos University. In 2020 it was awarded the distinction of High-Performance Research Group, i.e. the maximum score in the internal evaluation process. The University itself holds the official webpage for the group within their in-site Staff Portal.
The group was originally conceived with a wide scope, concerning several domains, and so the original acronym referred to a Research Group on ICT Engineering, encompassing all fields in Information Technologies, and particularly software architecture, linked open data, data processing, networking and distributed applications.
Our research has evolved during the last decade, and has evolved towards an emphasis on data science, semantic models, non-conventional data storage, data streaming, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
